Dating someone with the same name as your sister milwaukee dating
I was in a class that, for some reason, had about 4 or 5 students in it who had either the same given name as my mom or a slight variation. But on the other hand, Edward isn't a terribly common name for men in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties, so I don't think it'd be much of an issue for me. I think if we took a poll, a lot of people would have Mom issues such as that. Perhaps you're thinking of a different odd thing, though.
Around the time my son was born, we were staying with my parents for a short while. A couple of days after he was born, my sister answered the phone. I would like to speak to Mrs Dirty Hippy." "Umm, which one? My father and my stepfather both have the same first name.
That didn't really affect me - I guess in my mind, I think of my mother as "Mom" not "Betty". If another guy came along with the same name (which would be a real coincidence, since it's not a super-common name, but could happen), I'd have no problem dating him. Cliffy and I have been dating/married, I've probably called her Kathy less than a hundred times. It took me a few months to get used to it and break the association with the name.
But I would be somewhat discomfitted by dating a woman with same first name as my sister. The thing is, I don't think of my dad as his first name, I think of him as my dad, as in his first name is My and his middle name is Dad. Now, if he had my dad's name, that'd be cool, as long as he didn't ever want me to call him Daddy...
I liked her name, because it was old-fashioned and because it was my mom's name. There were some awkward conversations when people's eyes would widen in shock for a moment at one of her statements, then realize that she meant the Mike she was dating, not the brother we all knew. Not many men (if any) in my age bracket have my Dad's name, so I'm not in much danger.
It was just a small thing that I found endearing, not a big deal, just something that made her stand out from other people. I'm dating a guy now who has the same name as an evil ex, but he goes by a shortened version. He's pretty much perfect - why would I let a name keep me away? My aunt married a man who has the same name as my dad (her younger brother).
