Updating to usb 2 0; microsoft.support = microsoft.support
I certainly have, but if you experience problems, replacing it with a cable rated for USB 2.0 would be one of my first steps. Notenboom has been playing with computers since he was required to take a programming class in 1976.
Classically, older computers come with outdated USB port controllers running USB version 1.1.
This configuration, while quite stable, robs the computer of much of its possible speed.

Adding USB 2.0 isn't difficult, but it does require a hardware addition. Notenboom, © 2006 Unfortunately, upgrading from USB 1.1 to 2.0 requires more than software; it actually requires new hardware.
